PERFORMANCE (RECREATIONAL) PROGRAM (6 AND UP)

Registration link is here.

This is our program for dancers that would like to dance for fun, and want to perform around the Bonnyville area. All dancers in the Performance Program will be in one local festival/competition, the Christmas show, and the year end show.

What is the difference between Performance and Technique?

Technique dancers only work on dance technique all year. There is no competitions, no performances, and no fancy costumes. We offer technique only classes for ballet (full year), Acro (Sept-Dec) and Jazz (Sept-Dec). Information for our Technique only program can be found here.

Performance dancers work on technique all year, as well as a separate choreography time to work on their stage routine. They will have the Christmas show, one local competition, and the year end show, as well as an ordered or purchased costume.

Dancers can be 6 years and up (grade 1 in school), and we offer:

Performance Ballet – dancers will be working on the internationally recognized Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. This is the foundation for all dance forms, and carries over into all other forms of dancing. Dancers will have the option of a presentation exam. Dancers will be in the Christmas show, one local competition and the year end show (costumes are required, once ordered, there are no refunds on costume fees). Dancers require the correct colour of bodysuit according to their grade, Ballerina pink Mondor tights (regular or transitional), pink full sole leather Bloch ballet slippers, hair in a very neat ballet bun. Ballet wrap sweaters and wrap skirts are optional. Hoodies will not be permitted. This class is 45-60 minutes of technique (depending on the age and level of the dancers), with 30 minutes of choreography. Please note: ballet grades do not correspond to school grades, students will be placed according to their own personal level, as foundations in lower grades are necessary for higher grades.

Performance Acro – dancers will work on the internationally recognized Acrobatic Arts syllabus. Acro is not gymnastics, but incorporates gymnastic elements with dance technique. Dancers will be doing a performance exam, and at the teacher’s discretion will have the opportunity to do a certified exam. Dancers will be in the Christmas show, one local competition and the year end show (costumes are required, once ordered, there are no refunds on costume fees). Dancers require a black tank bodysuit, light tan Mondor convertible tights, fitted black shorts, bare feet, hair in a bun or French braids, with ends pinned up.
